orchard road facelift too expensive

The forty million dollars spent on the Orchard Road makeover was not well spent. It did not reap significant results and the money could have been spent on tackling more important issues.

The Orchard Road facelift was hardly a facelift at all. Out of a hundred people who were polled along Orchard Road, a good forty percent of the people did not notice any changes. Yet a fortune was spent on the ‘facelift’, which was supposed to revolutionize how Orchard Road looked. If a facelift really did take place, I would expect at the very least ninety-nine percent of the Orchard Road patrons to notice the change. Very evidently, the money spent was not worth its results.

However, naysayers may argue that landscaping is that expensive and a lot of money has to be put in even for a minute change, so one should be willing to part with one’s money if one wants to have an Orchard Road makeover. I would say that it is better not to spend any money at all on a makeover, rather than spend a fortune on a small change. After all, such money can be spent on other things that would make an impact far greater than an unnoticeable Orchard Road makeover. An example would be putting these forty million dollars into helping the poorer families during this economic crisis. Definitely these families need the money more than the Orchard Road patrons need the street facelift.

Once again, I reiterate that the makeover of Orchard Road was not worth the money.
